She’s a dreamer, joyous space creator, philanthropist, former radio host and entrepreneur. Mia Jackson Tyus is also a lover of a good glass of wine, lists the Atlanta Housewives as her guilty pleasure and thinks there’s nothing better in life than having a hot cup of coffee in the morning while planning how to turn dreams to a reality. She has designed a life that she proudly says allows her to comfortably move “from the outhouse to the White House.”
Today Mia serves as founder, leader and Chief Enjoyment Officer for Power in Pumps where she and her all-female squad work to educate, impact and empower women through conversations, workshops, conferences, virtual and in-person training opportunities.
Mia is a firm believer in the old adages "we are what we think," none of us is as good as all of us" and "this ain't about us" all of which are woven into the fabric of her company and her life. For more than a decade she traveled the world implementing compliance and diversity initiatives for a Fortune 50 corporation and also hosted the popular "Keepin' It Real" morning radio show on 95.5 F.M. in Decatur Illinois. The show brought Mia's unique perspective on love, life and the issues facing the African American community to thousands of Central Illinois listeners each weekend.
Mia holds an undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership from Greenville College, a master’s degree in Business Administration from Millikin University and three Equal Employment Opportunity certifications from Cornell University. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority incorporated and is a graduate of The Flourishing Center's Applied Positive Psychology program.
In her “down” time, this wife and mother of two can be found planning her next big event, trying to herd 14-year-old twins William and Symonne out of the door for school on time each day and strongly encouraging husband Billy to pick up his dirty socks from off of the bedroom floor.
